Frequently asked questions
Place settings can vary widely and can include plates, bowls and cups of different sizes. To simplify and standardize our offering, we've defined a place setting as the five most commonly included pieces: a dinner plate, salad plate, bread plate, teacup, and saucer.
That's generally not a problem. You can simply replace them with other pieces you do have. If you have specific questions or concerns, feel free to book an upcycle consultation.
If possible, we recommend selecting pieces that are free of chips and cracks. While we take great care when drilling, existing damage can weaken the china and make it more susceptible to additional cracking or breakage during the upcycling process.
Think of your upcycled teacup as a petite bowl with a small hole. See the product photos for ideas and inspiration about what you can serve, display and store in an upcycled teacup.
Dimensions are approximate as there are slight differenced in the height of the handles/pillars and the thickness of your china.
- 3 Tiers = ~15"
- 2 Tiers = ~10" (includes teacup stands)
- 1 Tier (i.e. jewelry dish, valet tray) = ~5"
We work with all types of china from delicate fine bone china to heavy ceramics and stoneware. We do not work with glass (milk glass, depression glass, etc.) as pressure applied by hardware can cause the glass to shatter into many pieces (we've learned the hard way!)
